Live Life Intentionally

When it comes to personality tests, choosing the right one can make all the difference in your self-development journey. Many tests only scratch the surface, but the Enneagram of Personalities is a tool I would highly recommend if you want to find purpose and live life intentionally. The Enneagram isn't just about identifying traits or telling you who you are, it’s about uncovering the deeper layers of why you do what you do, what drives you, and the patterns in your life that you might not even realise are there.

The Enneagram op Personalities can reveal why you might feel misaligned in your work and personal life, uncovering the root causes of distractions or unhelpful behaviours. This powerful and transformative tool has evolved over centuries, with ancient scholars laying its foundation and modern contributors enhancing its depth and insights.

If you’re on a path to understanding the true meaning of your existence, the Enneagram of Personalities can help you find profound answers and guide you toward living your life intentionally.

The Meaning of the Enneagram

The Enneagram of Personalities diagram

The word "Enneagram" comes from two Greek words: "ennea" meaning nine, and "gram" meaning diagram. Combined, it translates to a nine-pointed diagram. This symbol represents nine distinct personality types and how they interconnect.

It’s important to remember that no type is better or worse than another. Each number holds equal value, offering unique strengths and challenges. A crucial word of caution: as you begin to grasp this tool, remember that it’s meant for self-discovery, not for labelling or judging others. While we use numbers to identify personality types, these numbers are only a reference point:not the sum total of who we are.

The ultimate goal of working with the Enneagram is to understand yourself first. As your self-awareness grows, so does your ability to empathise with and understand others, recognising that we all share a collective perspective. Ea ch number reflects a unique way of seeing the world, and none of these perspectives are inherently right or wrong. Instead, they are gifts that allow us to view the world from different angles and celebrate the full spectrum of who we are as individuals and as a collective.

How the Enneagram of Personality Changed My Life

I hope the Enneagram becomes as meaningful to you as it has been to me.This tool didn’t just help me understand my personality, it gave me language for things I’d always felt but never fully understood. It helped me see myself clearly, and in doing so, it changed everything.

For over eight years now, the Enneagram has guided my journey of self-discovery. It’s deepened my relationships, with family, with clients, and most importantly, with myself. It’s the foundation I return to in both life and business.

But it didn’t arrive in my life gently.

At the time, I was fully immersed in my real estate career. I thought I was on the right path, doing what I was “meant” to do. Then, during a coaching session, I was asked a question I wasn’t prepared for:

“What’s your biggest fear?”

Without missing a beat, I answered: “I’m afraid of running out of time.”

That sentence wouldn’t leave me. It sat with me, whispered to me.Four weeks later, I resigned from real estate.

I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t have a vision board. I just knew I couldn’t ignore that voice any longer.

And then, the Enneagram found me.

I was invited to a retreat in Mullumbimby, where I experienced the Enneagram in a circle of strangers and somehow, also in a circle of mirrors. Later that year, I travelled to Petaluma, San Francisco, and began learning about hypnosis and shamanic work. Each experience peeled back another layer, bringing me closer to the truth of who I am.

Was it easy? Not even close.

This has been the hardest work I’ve ever done. But it’s also been the most rewarding.

The Enneagram helped me uncover why I move through the world the way I do, why I strive, why I freeze, why I overthink or withdraw. It gave me the clarity to meet myself with honesty, and the courage to begin again, on purpose this time.

Looking back, I realise I was right in that coaching session. But I hadn’t finished the thought.

What I meant to say was:“I’m afraid of running out of time to do the work I’m really here for.”

Now, I’m doing that work. And helping others do the same.

Not the work we’ve been told to do. Not the work we think we “should” do.But the work that feels true

Why Choose to Start Your Self-Discovery with the Enneagram Test

If your goal is to uncover the deeper motivations behind your actions, recognise behaviour patterns, and truly understand yourself, the Enneagram of Personalities is the perfect tool. Unlike other tests that offer surface-level insights, the Enneagram provides a roadmap to meaningful self-awareness and personal growth.

The Enneagram’s true value lies in its depth and versatility. It goes beyond defining personality types, revealing the patterns shaping your decisions, relationships, and life. By working with the Enneagram, you gain clarity about who you are and learn how to navigate challenges in a way that aligns with your core values.

While many people stay on the surface, not ready to explore further, this tool invites you to dive deep. It helps you uncover the truths beneath the patterns and behaviours we often take for granted. The reality is that most people aren’t ready to go beyond the edge, but for those who are, the transformation is profound and life-changing.

How the Enneagram Can Help You

  • Uncover the emotional triggers behind your actions and reactions, helping you respond more intentionally.

  • Discover whether your natural "home base" lies in the mind, body, or heart, and understand how this shapes your experiences and decisions.

  • Pinpoint where fear or doubt is holding you back from fully stepping into your purpose.

  • Deepen your self-awareness and grow your emotional intelligence to navigate relationships and challenges with confidence.

  • Understand your natural fear centre: head, heart, or body and how it influences your choices.

  • Gain clarity about your true purpose and learn to align your goals with your core values.

  • Recognise recurring patterns in your behaviour that limit your growth, and learn to break free from them.

  • Embrace and leverage your unique strengths to live with confidence and authenticity.

  • Transform how you communicate by understanding your unique style of expression, fostering deeper and more meaningful connections.
